A while ago I deleted my social media. It wasn't a protest. I was just worn out.

I'd open an app to check in on my friends, and twenty minutes later I'd be deep in the news, reading about something awful I couldn't do a thing about. Or scrolling through strangers' best days. I'd close it anxious and a little worse about myself, and that feeling followed me to dinner and to bed.

Once the apps were gone, I realized I didn't miss any of that. I missed my people.

So I started building the thing I wish existed.

It's called Palvo. It's a place to keep up with the people who actually know you, big moments and small ones, without everything else tagging along. Here's what that means right now:

• The news doesn't follow you around. Politics and News are off unless you turn them on. You can go looking for it. It won't come looking for you.
• Your Circle is the people you actually know. Not followers. Not an audience. Your people.
• When someone reacts, you see their name. There are no like counts. Not hidden. Gone.
• Your moments go to the people who care. The wedding, the trip, the new house, the new job, seen by your Circle instead of strangers.
• You're in charge of the feed. One switch puts everything back in plain order, and you can take a break whenever you need one.
• Your profile shows who you really are. Alongside your posts, Tiles show what you're into right now, like the show you're watching or the game you can't put down.

I'll be honest with you. I'm one person, and Palvo isn't finished. I've rebuilt it fifteen times already, and I'll probably rebuild it fifteen more. That's where you come in.
